The Chris and Beth Christoffersen Scholarship Fund

OLATHE, Kansas (December 15, 2005) – Kansas Youth Soccer is proud to announce the formation of the Chris and Beth Christoffersen Scholarship Fund to allow disadvantaged youth to develop skills while competing and enjoying the game of soccer. The scholarship fund has been named in their honor as the founders of Kansas State Youth Soccer Association (KSYSA) and have been instrumental in the establishment several youth soccer leagues and the growth of soccer throughout the state. They became involved in soccer in 1972, first as coaches of their own children and then throughout the 1970s and 1980s coaching many other parents’ children. Chris served as President of Kansas Youth Soccer until August of 1994 and with Beth at his side, started ODP Select and State Cup programs, helping to establish the U.S. Girls ODP. Chris has most recently served as the US Youth Soccer Region II Director for 14 state soccer associations. They also helped bring the World Cup to the United States in 1994 and the Wizards to Kansas City in the 1990s. Much of this was done out of their home and at their personal expense. They have combined a passion for the game of soccer with their love of youth. If you would like to contribute to the fund, please send a check to the State Association noting the fund’s designation on the check. The Kansas Youth Soccer Association has also designated any proceeds from the Wells Fargo "Sharing Advantage" program will go to the Chris and Beth Christoffersen Scholarship Fund.
