KANSAS OLYMPIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
What is ODP?

ODP MISSION

The mission of Kansas Youth Soccer's Olympic Development Program is a player identification and development program to identify age-eligible players of the highest caliber on a continuing and consistent basis, which leads to an increase in the success of the U.S. National Teams in the international arena.

The mission of the Kansas Olympic Development Program (ODP) is to provide a program to compliment the training at the local club level for the top players in Kansas to enhance and promote their development in order to gain recognition on the Regional and National levels.  Kansas ODP is here to help your player reach their full potential!

ODP PHILOSOPHY

  • We believe The development of players in Kansas is primarily the responsibility of our affiliate clubs and ODP should not interfere with that development, rather it should enhance it.
  • We believe it is the responsibility of Kansas ODP to supplement player development by identifying and allowing the best players in the state to train and play alongside each other and against other select teams, in tournaments, events, and at Region II ODP camps.
  • We believe exposure to the training methodology of our Nationally licensed coaches will further develop players to compete and play at the next level.
  • We believe the success of Kansas ODP and its players is a direct result of the quality of the players, the coaches, and level of cooperation between Club organizations and Kansas ODP.

ODP GOALS
  • To identify a roster of players in each program age group to represent Kansas at the USYS Region II ODP camps each year. Players attending Region II camps may be identified for Regional and National team opportunities.
  • To provide high-level training to benefit and enhance the development of committed Kansas youth players.
  • To develop, through the use of carefully selected, licensed coaches, a mechanism for the enhancement of ideas and curriculum to improve all levels of coaching.

BENEFITS OF ODP PARTICIPATION
  • Development as a player. The opportunity to train and play with the best players in one's age group.
  • Quality instruction from nationally licensed coaches.
  • Quality competition against other State's ODP teams.
  • Exposure to collegiate, professional, regional, and national team coaches.
  • The opportunity to represent one's state, region or country in competition.

ODP ELIGIBILITY

All
Kansas residents and any player registered with Kansas Youth Soccer, regardless of organizational affiliation, are eligible to participate in the program as long as they are within the established age limits and adhere to the rules and guidelines of the program.  Tryouts are open to any eligible soccer player.

ODP AGE GROUPS

The Olympic Development Program age groups requirements are different than Club soccer.  ODP age groups are based on the year of birth and have a January 1/December 31 cutoff date instead of the August 1 cutoff date used for Club soccer. Age Groups/teams in ODP are referred to by year of birth (example 1998) rather than U13 or U14 in Club.  Kansas ODP offers programming in the six youngest age groups each year.
