Coaching & Moving Players with Purpose

Joint Presenters:  Ryan Krychowski, President, Community for Coaches & Scott Moody, Owner, Athlete Fit

Meet Coach Ryan:  Ryan played at Yale University and coached for many years in the Naples, Florida area. He discovered that he had great influence over the young lives he was coaching and so in 2008, he began to work with other coaches helping them to discover their passion for coaching.  In 2011, he founded Community for Coaches, a non profit group, in Olathe, Kansas which works specifically with all athletic coaches, helping them to develop and successfully live out the transformational purpose in the lives of whom they coach. www.communityforcoaches.org

Meet Scott Moody:  An nationally-recognized leader and innovator in the world of sports performance, Scott Moody is the Founder and CEO of the not for profit training and research organization, SoccerFIT Academy. After ten years of success at CAP, one of the largest youth sports performance centers in the country, he is now focusing his attention on consulting, and developing sport specific programing for Colleges, Clubs and Sports Performance Training Centers that bridges the gap between training for sport and on-field performance. 

Moody has worked with thousands of athletes over the last 15 years, including Olympic and World Cup Champions, US, Canadian and Mexican National Team Players, NBA All-Stars and All-Americans & National Champions in multiple sports on the Collegiate, Club and High School level. Moody is a featured speaker and consultant to many sport and fitness organizations, and publishes a blog at AthelteFIT.com on the latest sports performance training programs and research.

Session A:  Methods & Tactics of Coaching the Youth Player

Presenter:  Ian Barker, Director of Coaching - National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) www.nscaa.com

Session B:  Coaching the Female Athlete

Presenter:  Jill McCartney, Washburn University - Assistant Athletic Director

Meet Coach Ian:  Coach Barker is the current Director of Coaching for the NSCAA and Head Coach for the Region II Boys ODP program.  He has served in multiple coaching capacities including Men's Coach at Macalester College, and Assistant Coach at the University of Wisconsin where he helped the Badgers to four NCAA appearances in five years and won the Big 10 Title and the NCAA Championship in 1995.  Coach Barker has also been the State Director of Coaching for the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association.

Meet Jill McCartney:  Jill McCartney is currently the Assistant Athletics Director at Washburn University.  Prior to moving into athletic administration, Jill coaches soccer for over twenty years, starting with youth and high school teams, where she was a coach-of-the-year and won a state high school championship.  She moved to the college ranks starting the womens soccer program at Marquette University, assisting at the University of Arizona, and taking over a young program at Southwest Minnesota State University where she also earned coach-of-the-year honors.  Jill grew up playing youth soccer in Tulsa, OK and went on to play at the University of North Carolina.
