Kansas Youth Soccer Hires Joe Burger as Executive Director!

Olathe, KS (Tuesday April 7, 2020) – Kansas State Youth Soccer Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Joseph Burger as the new Executive Director of our organization.  Joe joins Kansas Youth Soccer with over 26 years of soccer experience and most recently coming from Minnesota United F.C. (Major League Soccer), where he served as Youth Programs Technical Coordinator, a position he’s held for the past three years.  In that role Joe was responsible for the creation and implementation of the Minnesota United F.C. Academy Camp Program overseeing the operations including site negotiations, selections, staffing and registration in and around the Twin Cities.

Prior to his position with Minnesota United F.C., Joe worked in college soccer at many programs and levels including Bradley University (Men’s Assistant Coach), South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (Men’s Head Coach), and Drake University (Men’s Assistant Coach).  During his time with these programs, Joe's responsibilities included but not limited to the programs training & conditioning, recruiting, travel arrangements, budget management marketing, and academic progress of the student athletes.

In addition to his work previously in college soccer, Joe has been involved in many aspects of US Youth Soccer’s Olympic Development Program (ODP) most recently being a part of the Midwest Region Coaching Staff as a coach and evaluator from 2011 to 2017.  Before that he was involved in Kansas ODP as a coach from 2004 to 2009 while also coaching at Barton County Community College establishing the men’s and women’s soccer programs in 2001.  Joe’s Kansas connection gives him a strong network of soccer contacts as he enters the job of Executive Director.

We are excited to have Joe join our team at Kansas State Youth Soccer Association.  Those that know him well, can attest to the fact that he is a professional and has a wide knowledge of the game of soccer from many perspectives.  Joe is a graduate of University of Kansas City with a Masters of Public Administration from Drake University. Mr. Burger is excited to take on this new challenge in his career, and we are confident that he will be a strong leader, relationship-builder and will bring experience and wisdom to the role to help Kansas continue to grow in membership and providing the game of soccer to youth across the state of Kansas.

Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Joe!  He can be reached at the following:
